On guilt and regret

Nice.. got it off vader's blog who got it off one of his friend's:

Life should not be lived as a series of regretful vignettes, but an ever-forward moving interplay of self-directed actions. Not just responses to the stimuli of a dynamic world, but the creation of that dynamism, the spontaneous vitality that is the essense of life. The future is not a destiny, and thus should not be treated as one. The past does not feel remorse, and thus neither should you. Guilt is nothing but a millstone placed around your neck by a weak society. Regret is nought but damocles hanging a sword around your lack of will.
Guilt and regret is good to have as it keeps our conscience self as a human being. Imagine a person without either, he would be no different from an animal. But hanging on to it only adds to our labours, when the world just moves on. So, appreciate the presense of guilt and regret, forgive yourself and others, then move on. Most importantly, don't make the same mistake again. Make the world better, for you, and your loved ones.
