Civic Minded

Shall cast my thoughts away from the bad happenings of the day and share some revelations i attained in HongKong.

I realised the people in HongKong are very civic minded, as compared to what we have here. Ken suddenly just helped this visually impaired man to cross the street and we were watching this documentary on the bus and apparently the volunteerism culture is pretty developed.

Furthermore, although the way they drive vehicles seemed dangerous, with the narrow streets and undulating roads, it was always done in a civilised way. No honking or flashing the high beam.

AND. if you visit the shops, they will just tell you to 随便看. And say hello when you enter their shops and byebye when you leave. At first I was quite 'eeeew' by their 'byesbyes' cos it sounded sarcastic and not very nice. i found it rude actually but and then i realised all the shops do that and it was done in the good sense and not what i initially thought it to be.

heh. i was telling ken that the service here not bad, then he was like 'oh it improved alot since the SARS period.' guess everyone realised it pays to be polite. Then i started recalling this show on our tv called "新加坡人缺乏服务DNA?" Although i never caught that show, the short stay in hongkong made me ponder about the question.

heh. think i will stop here. two more topics on hongkong b4 i update the pictures... public transport and the 'issues' of HK vs S'pore.

Till next time.

Please let the bad things end.
