KR rues missed opportunities

KR has only themselves to look back at with this narrow loss to EH. They did everything right but did not seize the opportunities when presented to them.

Facing the same side that they lost by a single goal to last season, KR seemed geared up and more prepared to their nemesis. However, lady luck wasn't on their side.

Having beaten the tournament favourties during the preliminary rounds, KR had everything to play and they started brightly. Taking an early 1-0 lead after possession switches hand between the teams.

WOMAN OF THE MATCH: lizard (47)

Comparisons with Mavis Chng did not seem to bother her. Packing a powerful punch in her shots, she dragged KR back into the game. And in the dying minutes, she showed her versatility and court awareness by feigning a shot and dropping a pass to the pivot. Proving to be a menace in defense, she also stopped several offensive moves. A player to look out for in the next season.

The keeper on the opposite team had a shot at this title having combining badminton and volleyball well into her game. However, the lads at this editorial thought this was the exact performance expected of her after last season's fine showing in the same fixture.

FOOD WATCH: A limited selection of food from the comm hall in the press room, only for KR residents. What a shame. They did provided mandarin oranges for the derby match.

THE 7m MYSTERY: KR will rue at the missed opportunites by failing to convert not one, but FOUR penalties. 3 shots lacked sting which allowed the GK to dive and dig (vball style) the ball to safety. Janice was unlucky to sound the post.

FAIRY TALE ENDED: Both teams played superbly well. Entertaining match for the neutral fans but heart wrenching for their fans. KR almost regained the title they lost last year after having a fine run this season. Tough luck girls.

KR VERDICT: The girls on show were brimming with energy and enthusiasm, and not forgetting the passion and desire. Even though they will not have the wonder winger adele, tenacious defender liling and bubbly gk bid and might lose their capt, they are still the team to beat next season. Watch out for them as the younger players mature behind the leadership of sizzling siqing and janice.

EH VERDICT: With their talisman GK retiring, it will be for all to see if anyone can step up and fill the big gap she will leave behind. The field players will improve and they will spring a few surprises.
