Fairness exists?!?!

Hmm.. was just doing some thinking (yes! i do use that part of my body at times) and i dwelled on the topic of 'decision making' for awhile...

well, we make decisions everyday. something that we can't run away from. what time to wake up, whether to brush our teeth, what to eat, etc. big decisions, small decisions.... decisions that affects you only and decisions that might have bigger consequences... or worse decisions that might have effects that you might not see until after a long time! well, sometimes we are just in that position that we will have to decide. right or wrong, easy or tough, small or big.. we just gonna have to decide.

well... i had one hell of a time making decisions during my jcrc term (of coz assisted by a superb team) but well.. we had our times of tough decision makings: who to retain? 20 choose 5. cancelling Ops Nalgene. Those were the days man.

hmmm... talent retention. that's a big issue. after retiring and looking at things... mebbe our policy of trying to be as fair as possible... i.e. gives priority to those who contributed more in terms of points earned might not be the BEST policy. i dunno. oh well. since i am retired might as well share a bit of my thoughts on this particularly touchy issue, esp for those still in office. ;)

ranking in terms of priority:
1. sports
2. leadership
3. culture
4. comms

i am talking abt exceptional abilities and not those normal normal 'sportsmen'. talking about those that can make a difference to the team and these do not include those 'jacks of all trades'. as long as the importance of the certain player is justified. so be it. even if it is just for one sport. same goes for leadership and culture.

comms? hmm.. let's face it. in my honest opinion, as compared to sports, culture or leadership talents, it might be a little easier to replace them. cruel? yah, perhaps. but it's the reality of life i guess. if u are not unique or special or possess some special skills then you are out. sad, but true.

working traits like hardworking, diligent, etc., can be nurtured. talent is a bit hard.

damn i am getting distracted. shall stop writing. might edit this again. or might just heck it.

anyway doesn't mean that we used this policy to decide who to stay or not... it is an AFTERTHOUGHT.
