Aching Body...

Got into a car accident yesterday. Lucky no fatalities.

We were travelling in derrick's car, towards the PIE (we were going to changi airport for our classes) when this lorry decided to beat the red light and turned right from our left.

I remembered that the lights on our side was green (we had the bloody right of way!). derrick braked. too late.

wham! it happened so fast. the chevolat aveo was hit on the left bonnet into the side of the lorry.

i remembered closing my eyes just b4 the clash. the next thing i noe is.. congested chest, smell of petrol, abit of smoke and blurred vision. Luckily i was still conscious. I could think.

First thought. Derrick is ok. He asked us whether we were ok. Next. Unbuckle. Derrick asked eric to unbuckle too cos he said he is trying to breathe properly.

i stepped out of the car. and tried to orientate myself. apparently i was in the state of shock.

amazingly i could still think. actually asked derrick to call the ambulance.

talked to eric. fearing he might go unconscious.

called eugene. our class ic to inform him. he informed rama our course warrant.

derrick couldn't get thru the ambulance and i had to call 995 myself.

derrick called the TP. i got thru to the operator and managed to describe where we were.
(point of advice: know the road names! i told them safti then they keep asking me for the road names.)

called dad. called bid. (and i actually could tell her to find someone else to go to west side story with cos i might be admitted for observation.)

congested chest. neck ache.

realised i was bleeding on the forehead. took a tissue from derrick's car to press on it. superficial cut.

asked derrick where my specs were. he said i took it off right after the accident. (i din remember a thing). but i eventually found it on the car door.

benson: u guys will onli feel the aches after half hour. adrenaline rush.

i was like... hmm.. ok...

asked paul to grab eric's my things and bring home. so tht can get from him later.
nick helped take eric's stuff out of the car.

(saw the side mirror rumble by as a few cars passed by the T-junction, yes it was severed from the aveo)

eric's breathing better. ambulance came. TP came.

the ambulance attendant/paramedic asked me what happened. I gave weird answers, then i realised it, then i tried to think again b4 telling him the whole story. state of shock still, i presume.

our coursemates who were also gg changi airport drove by. and many of them stopped. some even u-turned and stopped by the road to see how we were.

paul tan and benson who were in the car behind us were there already.
i remembered eugene, poh huat, nicholas, hon, andrew, loy, gallen, dongting and weisong?. kim chong and zen drove past and i remembered waving them on.

i realised there weren't rage in me. feeling too shitty to get angry. derrick too. our main concern was safety.

the TP asked me what happened. I told him. Realising the aveo actually spun 180 degress after the impact. Derrick took over the answering. Went to the hospital on the ambulance with eric. heard rama's voice b4 the door closed.

in the ambulance, i remembered thinking to myself how many had actually died in it. and how bloody it could be and how are they going to wash it down. i was grateful that i din have to witness blood and emergency life saving. i cant imagine how i would react if i have to witness the paramedics trying to save eric. it was lucky that we weren't seriously hurt. another angle of impact might had made things worse, perhaps.

alot of calls started to come in. people were concerned. yow and bid also sms-ed me. dad too. told me not to tell mum in case she gets worried. (later did i realised my mum was not at home with dad.)

mum and yow was already at the hospital when i stepped out of the ambulance. eric was taken to the emergency ward and i was taken to the A&E outpatient.

took my ECG, chest xray and cleared me to go home after 2.5 hours or so.

during the wait, managed to call dad to see if he can help derrick with the TP. the investigating officer also called. called LTC roy to update him. sms pple to ensure that i am ok. onli managed to check on eric after i was discharged. talked to him on the handphone and they warded him.

suspected spine injury. but have to wait for specialist to attend to him.

now i still cant turn my head. chest hurts when i breathe. and aching all over.

and yah. seat belt helps. i have a seat belt bruise on my shoulder, extending to my chest.
please wear them. whether u are in the front passenger seat or at the back. eric had it on. he was in the back passenger seat.
