REAL holiday. Finally.

hadn't had the time and motivation to blog... until i saw mg's entry commenting on the recipients of my x'mas gifts. yes dammit, they are mostly girls but hey! chin started it. he bought candy canes last yr for the girls and hinted that 'someone should do it this year'. so i proudly continued the practise. fyi lord vader. ben received one of the candy canes too. one of the few nice things final years do.

the newly declared 'not-so-clean' or in hon's words, 'not-clean-at-all' neighbour ben now has a new formidable sneaky tool/gimmick in his room. new-born hamsters. let's just say that there had been squealings and squeakings coming out from his room. and it's not the hamsters making those noises. ;)

woohoo... super looking forward to NYE at ben's place. last i heard 70+++ people is going to be there!!!! and what can get worse? the only group of our young tender age is.. us. ONLY us. You got something to say about that vader?

sad sad sad! only got to know abt the tsunamis that hit asia this afternoon. realli surprised that i am so out of touch with the outside world. so spent a good number of hours on cnn.com to try to catch up with the real world. trainings and fyp destroys you. esp in the holidays when you have no mood to do any academic work at all. mark my words final years to be. realli not at all.

a friend came visiting last nite with a late x'mas gift. better late than never? =) thanks anyway. and we were just chatting and this very interesting topic popped up when ruirui came up and offered eclairs stuffed with ice-cream and laced with chocolate. (special orders apparently). "getting fat and being fat are two different matters.' interesting eh? i was so amused that i couldn't stop laughing for awhile. but oh well, come to think of it, it all make good sense.

handball season is starting. excited and all pumped up. some crap was happening and this question was thrown into the air by my longtime buddy and i. "do you ever question your coach?" we decided oh well, what the heck. FYF all the way.

been reading quite extensively recently. finished dan brown's series os 'angels and demons' and 'da vinci code', still looking around for 'digital fortress' and what's the title of the fourth book? watever, my attention is on other books now. honomondo passed me this "The Jordan Rules" by Sam Smith and insist that i read it before the season starts. Alright man, just for you. Received "tuesdays with morrie" as a x'mas gift, although i just happen to have borrowed the movie dvd... should i watch the movie first then read the book or the other way? hmm...

was surfing through nba.com and came across this interview of phil jackson and here is an extract from it:

(when asked what books will he get for kobe bryant and shaq)

Jackson: "Well, let's see...there's a book by a Rabbi named Harold S. Kushner called, When Bad Things Happen to Good People, that’s a good book for Kobe. To know that just because something bad happens to you doesn't mean you're a bad person, you know, that you’ve got that reassurance.
"I guess with Shaq, I'd go with Meetings with Remarkable Men by G. I. Gurdjieff --- it’s a book that I hold really valuable. That’s something I may think of, mostly because it has a great title, but it's also a terrific book. Shaq was a philosopher --- he's the guy that read all the plots of the Hermann Hesse books, the Nietzsche books that I gave him. He was a guy that read the heavier stuff."

So i decided to check these books out and buy them at borders. sadly, only the first book was available and i had to order the second book online. bought the french title (translated into english) "the little prince" and "the five people you meet in heaven". so... that's alot of titles that i have to go thru... and chin is offering his "damn good books' that a certain botak insisted that he buy them. oh well.. its a neverending list.

went out with chin and hon today. had buffet lunch at coca at taka. we made a reservation at 130pm and we can't believe it when the waitress at the door told us the place is full and we will have to wait for 15mins. hey we were on time! early by about 3 minutes in fact and you are telling us the place is full?!?!? A reservation is a reservation man... this is crap. so we waited and checked out the menu of the thai restaurant opposite. (which chin wasn't confident enuff to borrow.. tsk) the waitress (from coca) gave us weird looks when she came out and told us the table was ready. ha. and hon even went into the thai restaurant to talk to the waiter inside and made her waited for us. oh well... lunch was good though. quite value for money... superb actually. the stock was good and the food was fresh. nice.

went shopping at borders after that and bought those books. i spent a good amount of time at the children's section looking thru the picture books. man! were they interesting. shel silverstein is the bomb la. everyone should read 'the giving tree' and 'the missing piece'. nice. i heard they have a song for 'the giving tree' too! amazing. 'meetings with remarkable men' was out of stock and i asked how much does it cost to order. the staff quoted me a massive $45 for the book alone, shipping not included. WTF! so i came back and ordered online at amazon.com... it will only cos me about $28 INCLUDING shipping. different publisher perhaps.. but still!!!!

we were on a gastronomical frenzy. after that satisfying buffet we actually decided to have tea at Big-O (just opposite NYDC). the waitress actually said this when hon was served, "here is your g-spot, sir." *chuckle* (g-spot is the name of one of the cakes in the shop). nice tea we had. despite some weirdo who came in uttering a whole chain of rubbish. even b4 she had her coffee.

did a bit of shopping and came back... felt Ggggreaat! despite the weirdos we met at every occasion. RECALL: cabbie on the cab ride to orchard. he sounded damn stressed and he almost ran into this cyan CLIO at tanglin. the waitress at coca. the girl at big-O. oh and this ang-moh woman who tried on tights in the nike shop. she was wearing a dress. and shades. guess the shades served their purpose. cab ride back. cabbie contributed a one-liner to our comments on this volvo(?) who was punk driving. oh well... that's what the holidays are about man... no FYP to bog you down. (oh well at least for a day).

getting fat and being fat are two different matters
